"Dance and Cultural Diversity" examines the art of dance within the context of different cultures. In doing so, the readings in the text connect dance to academic disciplines such as anthropology, sociology, psychology and philosophy. Darlene O Cadiz graduated with her M.A. in Theatre and Dance in 1987 from California State University Fullerton. She has performed in regional dance companies in Southern California while developing her skills as a teacher. In 1988 she was hired as a Lecturer at CSUF teaching general education classes in the Dance Department. The call to teach "Dance and Cultural Diversity" stems from research in exploring different cultures through the medium of dance. Darlene s classes challenge the students to analyze life from a philosophical perspective, encouraging them to create a better life for themselves and apply their knowledge to build a better society for all.

Multiscale Modeling of Degradation in Lithium-Ion Batteries (9783832549275)

This book provides a comprehensive methodology for multiscale simulation of degradation in lithium-ion batteries. The work helps to understand battery degradation processes by revealing complex multiscale effects, which cannot be taken into account by single-scale models. A novel numerical method is presented, which dynamically couples molecular models based on kinetic Monte Carlo method with macroscopic models. Moreover, the work provides mathematical models of degradation on various length scales, e.g. heterogeneous side reactions on molecular scale and the restructuring of particle size distributions on electrode scale. Instead of describing processes separately, the multiscale methodology systematically analyzes interaction of degradation processes and cell operation.
